✨WEEKLY SPOTLIGHT on this Bright Blue Paisley inspired fabric from Dashwood Studio’s Silk collection.

🧵The intricate and beautiful hand-woven designs of the Kashmir shawl originated in India in the 11th century but over the centuries, European manufacturers tried to replicate the patterns.  The weavers in Paisley were already very skilled in production of fine cloths and combined with the introduction of the jacquard loom and other innovations by the town’s skilled workers, production boomed.  And so, this small Scottish town became the centre of the global textile trade.    Production of the original paisley shawls peaked in the 1860s when there were over 71 shawl manufacturers in Paisley.  The mass production of them made the shawls affordable and accessible.  Apparently Queen Victoria purchased 17 shawls in the 1840s!

🥰I love this vibrant cloth inspired by the paisley pattern all these years later!
